Our uncle watches us like a hawk

February 11, 2026

Dear Pastor,

I am 18 years old and I am living with my parents, my three sisters and my uncle.

My sisters and I get along very well. But my uncle is always watching us. He likes to carry news to our parents. Anytime he sees us talking to a guy he tells our parents about it, so we hate him for that. He says he is only trying to protect us.

My sisters and I don't have boyfriends and that would not be a very difficult thing for us to do when the time comes. None of us have had sex. We would not hide that from each other. My uncle has a girlfriend and she told us that he does not have any use because she has offered him sex and he has not accepted it. She believes that he is either 'on the other side' or he has another girlfriend. Do you think that this man has another girlfriend? He is a handsome man so he cannot be on the other side.

My uncle has never been rude to us or shown interest in us, but we are tired of him looking out for us. We can handle ourselves. What do you say?

T.L.,

Dear T.L.,

I believe your uncle means well. Forgive him for being overprotective. His girlfriend told you that she has offered him sex but he has refused. I doubt that he is on the other side. Time will tell whether this man is on the other side.

You girls should be grateful that you have an uncle who is concerned about you. Take good care of yourselves and may God bless you.
