Last year when D'Angel and her son Marco Dean gifted a homeless man with groceries and new clothes, the entertainer vowed to do more through her Spread A little Love Foundation Christmas charity in 2020.

This year, despite having her finances hard hit by COVID-19, the Stronger singer made good on that promise, as she treated 100 persons in her hometown of Spanish Town, St Catherine, to care packages.

"It is very important to give back because this is a time to spread love, to spread joy," the artiste said as she handed out the packages in the St Catherine Municipal Park on Tuesday.

"People want to have food to eat and so if I can make 100 homes happy in Jamaica, that is a big thing for me. To put a smile on their faces for Christmas, that's a big thing," she told THE WEEKEND STAR.

Hard hit by the squeeze on the entertainment industry, due to COVID-19 restrictions, D'Angel handed out more than 500 care packages in May, two months after the country was placed in lockdown.

"I was looking at that and I was saying I won't be able to do that now because I am not working, and the stage is where I make most of my money, but I still put out an effort to do it nonetheless," she said

Marco Dean, whose father is dancehall superstar Beenie Man, is CEO of the foundation. He said that if their gesture can help make someone's life better, he would always be involved.

D'Angel expressed gratitude to her sponsors, Honey Bun, Cal's, Rave Wholesale and CB Chicken, and her fans, pointing out that without their contributions, the care package delivery would not have been possible.

Doris Samuels, 89, who was first in line to receive a package, told THE WEEKEND STAR that the gesture from D'Angel has made her Christmas brighter. Samuels said she "give thanks" for the items, adding that being a recipient made her "feel nice".

Roderick Garwood, 79, who uses a walker, said he had nothing when he woke up on Tuesday morning, but was grateful that he'd be going home with groceries.

"Now mi can have a Merry Christmas," he said.
