Akeen Fennell to share stage with stalwarts

Since he won the Digicel Rising Stars competition in 2024, singer Akeen Fennell has been on a musical tear, impressing audiences at live shows and events.

He intends to keep the momentum going on Valentine's Day when he shares stage with two of his musical idols, veteran singers and Sanchez at the Love and Reggae Up Close and Intimate Live concert. The inaugural staging of the event, which will be held on the lawns of Devon House in St Andrew, is being promoted by popular music selector, producer and event organiser, Richard 'Richie D' Martin.

"It's an honour and a privilege to get another chance to share the stage with Sanchez and Wayne Wonder. This will be my second time performing on the same stage as Sanchez and my third time sharing the stage with Wayne Wonder. And like the first time, this is another wow moment for me just being among some of reggae music's biggest names. It feels good," said Fennell.

According to Fennell, "Patrons can expect a great performance from me, one that will keep me on their minds even after the show is over. I am bringing my A-game and I also can't wait to see my musical idols performing the songs that I grew up listening to."

The Love and Reggae concert, which is dubbed 'A Valentine's evening of Timeless Romance", will feature music by veteran DJ Master ROGJ, while Bambino and Jade will guide the proceedings as MCs. Part proceeds from the event will go towards Hurricane Melissa relief efforts.
