Recording artiste Etana is having the time of her life as the first ever Reggae Month Ambassador.

"So far, it has been so fantastic! Reggae and Jamaica is in full swing with good energy, good music, and events to attend every night - and still going," Etana said.

The Reggae Month Ambassador initiative, a new feature of Reggae Month, observed annually in February for the past 18 years, aims to spotlight reggae's worldwide influence through the voices of practitioners who actively shape the genre's legacy.

Etana, who was selected for her outstanding contributions to reggae music, delivered a stand-out set at the recently held Wickie Wackie Festival at 8 Mile, Bull Bay, performing on February 14.

"The audience was warm, singing, smiling and engaged. It was obvious they were true reggae lovers. It's a different kind of audience attending Wickie Wackie. It's the kind of audience that shows up to listen and take with them all the good positive energy that reggae brings," Etana reflected on the reception from the hundreds who turned out.

The festival ran from February 12-14 and featured top reggae acts such as Turbulence, Third World (with a tribute to Stephen 'Cat' Coore), Alpha Music School, and many more.

With one more week left in February, Etana has several engagements lined up, including a highly anticipated release.

"I look forward to performing on the Reggae Gold Award Show on Friday, February 27, at the National Arena, National Stadium Complex, Kingston, and to the release of my version of I Shot The Sheriff by the great Bob Marley. I hope my fans will appreciate this one," she said.
