One-y-o shot as her dad is murdered
A one-year-old girl is in hospital in serious but stable condition after she was shot in her buttocks and leg by gunmen as she slept early yesterday morning.
Her father, Anthony Campbell, 22, was shot and killed in the incident that took place at their home on Hanover Street in Kingston.
According to police reports, about 1:30 a.m., several loud explosions were heard at the premises and a lone man carrying a firearm was seen running away. Residents made checks and summoned the police when it was revealed that Campbell and his baby were shot. They were taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead and the infant admitted.
Yesterday, when THE STAR team visited the yard, Campbell's mother sat at her doorway listening to gospel songs. She said she is relying on her faith to keep her going.
"When mi hear di shot dem mi know say a inna di yard dem fire, and mi know say dem connect, and base on the direction them coming from, I knew it was him. Dem tear off di door and fire in the house.
