Nephew in custody after uncle’s fatal stabbing

A family dispute turned deadly on Tuesday night after a man went into a rage and stabbed his uncle to death on Payne Avenue.

Dead is 56-year-old Mark Cain. According to police reports, Cain was stabbed and killed by his nephew about 10 p.m. during a domestic dispute. He was transported to the Kingston Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead. According to the residents, the suspect, who has a mental condition, often accused his uncle of attempting to make sexual advances at him.

“The youth have mental problem but him no mad. Is not a youth whe a walk round and trouble you. Him always clean and you can send him go anywhere and him do the right thing, “ a woman said.

A senior police officer of the St Andrew South Division said he has heard the rumours, but said no formal complaint was ever made.

“What I can say is that the suspect waited at the house until the police arrived and handed over the murder weapon. He is currently in our custody as we continue to investigate,” the senior cop said.

Another resident told the news team that Cain, a former security guard, came to the area to live several years ago after he was deported from Canada. He said the suspect and the victim had frequent altercations.

A woman told the news team that she and others were shocked when the nephew came and told them that he had stabbed his uncle.
